hi, I ’m Jessica
I’m a wife, “scrunchy” mom of two, emergency preparedness enthusiast, Trader Joe’s fanatic, and believer in Christ trying to be better every day.
After graduating with my bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Wellness, I worked as a health coach at a medical weight loss and nutrition center until I left for my dream job, a full-time stay-at-home-mom.
My experience with the conventional Western approach to health and nutrition - coupled with struggles getting pregnant with our first child - caused me to make changes that led to a more natural, holistic lifestyle and way of eating for our family.
Like it was for many others, 2020 was a huge wake-up call in terms of how unprepared we were. When we later moved across the country away from all our family and friends for my husband’s PhD (when I was pregnant with our first child), I realized we were pretty much on our own and could no longer rely on our families as our backup plan.
I wanted to be prepared for the future and build a modest food storage for our family, but our grad student budget and 2-bedroom apartment seemed like impossible barriers.
I’d always believed that food storage and preparedness were important, and I felt that making them a priority in our current circumstance would be an act of faith. I trusted that God would bless us with inspiration to maximize our finances and available space (spoiler alert: He absolutely has).
I started sharing about my preparedness efforts on social media with the hope of encouraging others in similar situations, and found a whole community of people with the same concerns and values.
It’s been so rewarding to connect with so many other “faithful preppers” who are also just doing their best to take care of their families and stay close to God.
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
Matthew 17:20
